Routines are comforting. Today is Monday…again…already. My self-imposed Monday chores are laundry (weirdly comforting) and baking muffins (usually Kodiak protein dark chocolate or blueberry, occasionally from scratch, but most definitely not a requirement), making the house smell good.
Some people live for action and adventure; I’m all about cozy and comfort and simple everyday pleasures. Even the pups are cooperating today. Have a happy Monday and the rest of your week!
And now, it’s almost time for my fika — Swedish mid morning break with tea or coffee (or water) and something sweet, like a cinnamon bun or a biscuit with grape or strawberry jam, often shared with other people (today, my “others” are the furry kiddos). I really like this idea (to be fair, I usually had a pre-lunch snack anyway, but now there’s another name and tradition to go along with it)! My daughter thinks I’m more like a hobbit, enjoying my two breakfasts. Either way, I think it’s a lovely ritual and it makes me happy. Besides, being a hobbit seems like a good life — what’s not to love about the two breakfasts, a steady supply of potatoes, bread and cheese, and teatime, bare feet included?
